Course Descriptions

The ACSI Training Center, located at 4324 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. Suite B-180 Baton Rouge, LA, seats approximately 25 and includes state-of-the-art visual and audio equipment. In demonstrating techniques for enclosures and safety concerns, we use the most up-to-date materials and methods. Regular training is provided for all asbestos disciplines. ACSI Training Center is approved by the USEPA, Louisiana DEQ, Alabama Safe State Environmental Program, Texas Department of State Health Services, Arkansas DEQ, and Mississippi DEQ.

A closed-book examination shall be given to all persons seeking accreditation who have completed an initial training course. A person seeking accreditation in a specific discipline shall pass the examination for that discipline prior to receiving a training certificate. For example, a person seeking accreditation as an inspector must pass the inspector’s accreditation examination given by the training organization. Each examination shall adequately cover the topics included in the training course for that discipline. Persons who pass and fulfill other associated requirements will receive a certificate indicating that they are trained in a specific discipline.

The following are the Requirements for Examinations in each area:

Inspectors

  • 50 multiple choice questions
  • Passing score: 70 percent

Abatement Project Designers

  • 100 multiple choice questions
  • Passing score: 70 percent

Management Planners

  • 50 multiple choice questions
  • Passing score: 70 percent

Asbestos Abatement Contractors and Supervisors

  • 100 multiple choice questions
  • Passing score: 70 percent

Asbestos Abatement Workers

  • 50 multiple choice questions
  • Passing score: 70 percent

Prerequisites/Eligibility

  • Individuals not eligible for employment in the United States will not be licensed.
  • Refresher courses must be taken within two years of initial course or last refresher course.
  • Inspectors: Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Management Planners: Must have completed Inspector Initial/Refresher course. Must provide proof as a registered architect, engineer, certified industrial hygienist, or bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field.
  • Abatement Project Designer: Must provide proof as a registered architect, engineer, or a certified industrial hygienist.

Refresher Training Courses

For all disciplines except inspectors, a one-day annual refresher training course is required for re-accreditation. Refresher courses for inspectors shall be a half-day length. Management planners shall attend the inspector refresher course, plus an additional half-day on management planning. The refresher course shall be specific to each discipline. Refresher courses shall be conducted as separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. For each discipline, the refresher course shall review and discuss changes in federal and state regulations, developments in state-of-the-art procedures, and a review of key aspects of the initial training course as determined by the state. After completing the annual refresher course, persons shall have their training extended an additional year. If a refresher course is not completed within two years of the last course completion date, the initial training course has to be retaken for re-accreditation.
